The name of the mountain comes from the Thracian Goddess Rhodopa and it has not been changed since the time of Homer around 850 BC. Through the ages, the Rhodopes have preserved the ancient traditions of people living in these mountains. In many small villages, the locals still dress in the traditional, hand made, wool clothes of Bulgaria.
The Rhodopes is the greenest and most picturesque mountain range in Bulgaria. Through the winter it has plenty of snow for winter sports and trainings, while the rest of the year it has plenty of sun and ideal weather. It has fresh and pure air with a mild climate, being influenced by the Mediterranean draughts.· The mountain range is home to the second largest dam in Bulgaria, called Dospat. To the east, there are unique geographical sights, namely Yagodina, Devils Throat caves and the gorge of Trigrad. The town of Velingrad, which is situated in the western part of the Rhodopes, in the valley of Tchepino has mineral water that rise out of 80 different springs, which are the same quantity and quality of Hissarja, Banja and Naretchen. The temperate climatic is wonderful for certain illness’s.
The well - known resort "Pamporovo", in the Rhodopes offers ideal conditions for winter sports, rest and entertainment. The Rhodopi mountain range offers opportunities for Outward Bound® activities, in winter and summer.

What I’ll remember the most is the mountains – they were mystical I thought beauty like this only existed only in legends. I don’t regret a single step I made during my course.

When I reached the peak was rewarded with a magnificent view. The whole course was very important for me, but not because of the things I did or learned, but because of the things I felt.
