Pirin is the second highest mountain in Bulgaria. The highest peak being Vihren at 2914 m. It is home to a wide variety of plant species, including the Edelweiss and the famous Bykushev white fir, that is almost 1300 years old.· Practically the whole northern region of Pirin has been proclaimed a national park (known since 1962 as "Vihren", since 1975 under the name "Pirin"), consisting of 26,479.8 hectares. The combination of sharp mountain peaks and rock-edges, crystal-clear lakes and century-old coniferous forests create an incredible scene.
The Karst Ridge is one of the most interesting regions of Pirin, raising high over 2500m., its snow-covered peaks and ideal geometric form is unique in Bulgaria. It is also home to the unique eco-systems of endemicities and relicta. The national park "Pirin" is included in the UNESCO program "Man and bio-sphere" on the world natural and cultural heritage.

What I’ll remember the most is the mountains – they were mystical I thought beauty like this only existed only in legends. I don’t regret a single step I made during my course.

When I reached the peak was rewarded with a magnificent view. The whole course was very important for me, but not because of the things I did or learned, but because of the things I felt.
